Imagine if you lost the sense of smell. Is it possible for foodies to cook or enjoy food? Smell has so many dimensions and the five tastes would just be flat without it.

Recently I heard about Molly Birnbaum's story on NPR and was happy to find her blog where you can read her story about how she lost her smell months before she was to join the Culinary Institute of America and her experiences as it slowly came back.

We'd love to hear your thoughts on smell !

I know someone very very close who doesn't have the sense of smell or taste. I didn't know about it until someone else close to both of us told me. I didn't even realize simply because this person(X) is SUCH a foodie. And talks abuot food all the time. Eats well, cooks AMAZINGLY well. No effort at all. And always has stories aout food, talks about how tasty it was.

I realized it is all nostalgia and just coming to a realization that food can still be enjoyed just through memory.

Sorry for the rambling post. Just got a li'l emotional.
