This company popped up on Amazon.com when I searched for 'Brown basmati'.

Has anyone tried their products? Please tell us about your experience. Vendor recommendations for brown rice (especially basmati) are appreciated. Thanks.

what about trader joe? they won't charge for shipping. fred meyer and winco have it in the bulk bins. even my desi grocer has it. also, brown rice lasts for six months or so 'cos the oils in the bran make it go rancid. so don't buy ginormous quantities unless you eat it daily.

costco has a big bag of regular brown rice that is nutty and tastes great. there's even an organic brand in costco, i think.

    Danke.
I looked online and it turns out Kentucky doesn't have ANY of these stores! Ugh!

I didn't think about the rice going rancid! Gosh.
The nearest Trader Joe and Costco are in Cincinnati, OH.
I feel a road trip coming on.

Pooja, regular grocery stores (Safeway,Giant) have long grain brown rice. Looks similar to Basmati rice. They are usually in 1 1/2 lb bags. Worth a try before you make the road trip.

yeah, get the regular long-grain brown rice and add a dash of saffron if you want it to smell like basmati - 'cos that's what basmati is - rice crossbred with saffron.

That helps. We're just beginning to incorporate whole grains in our diet and I want to start with something familiar. Thanks.

I found a bag of Swad Brown Basmati Rice at my local Patel Brothers. I like it much better than the brown basmati/long-grain I've tried before, they'd never cook even despite varying the proportion of water.
