Blanched
July 2, 2009 |

BLANCH (verb):
To plunge foods into boiling water for a few seconds or minutes, then remove and place in ice water. This process sets the colour of vegetables, lets one easily peel fruits, and slip the skins off nuts. The food does not cook all the way through, so crisp texture is preserved.

i am loving this! fresh and appetizing. love the tones and the lighting too!
absolutely love the colours!
Bright contrasting colors and are really catchy! Welldone Bee!
Love the appetizing color of freshly blanched spinach. That’s an eatable photograph Bee! Now I am scratching my head to come up with something bi-color.
The green on your veggies is just gorgeous!
Now thats what makes the process of Blanching worth it! Yes - these photos! awesome
Lovely pic, Great colors.
Voted! I wish some participants would find a way to place their copyright overlay in a less obtrusive position. I am put off more and more by a lovely photograph that is largely obscured by somebody’s claim to it. I will back down if somebody can explain how that would be necessary - what horrifying loss of income or credit might occur if that copyright information were at the bottom or top or to one side so the photo itself is not obscured. Honestly, if these photographs are also simultaneously meant to earn income for somebody I think that gets into a whole different kind of photo contest as opposed to food bloggers having fun with their cameras. All righty. Rant over now. Happy 4th weekend!
Deb,
Have a great fourth.
we have recognized that many participants do that and have included in our instructions a note that judges also get put off by it and so might affect scoring. Rant noted, but we can’t do much more about it
Jai
yum! i like to put this in my smoothie (the recipe from you).
