Pink Climbing Rose

“I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

Lovely pictures, as always :) . I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again for good measure – I love your garden :) .

Especially loved the last picture – almost seems to have an element of naughtiness, that rose – it seems to craning its neck and taking a peek :)

Lovely roses. We have the same yellow `Peace` rose in our yard too. Please give me some tips on keeping the rose plant healthy….Thank you in advance.

we use a systemic insecticide (it’s a seasonal one that works for 12-months) once in spring, fertilise it twice or thrice a year with an organic fertiliser that we use for our veggies, and prune it in fall. if we see any fungus, we spray a fungicide. if you use the systemic, it’s no longer organic, though. we get thrips, so we have to use it.

      • Cilantro says:

Thank you for the much needed info, I prune them in fall and fertilize but the only problem is the fungus. They seem to be very healthy until summer and then go bad. I have used all the methods available online but of no use. I will try the systemic insecticide this time. Thanks again.

since you live in wet weather, whenever you see sings of fungus, spray them with a fungicide there are some specially for roses.

What a prolific bloomer your climbing rose is. Will it stay that way all season or is this more a one time display? I appreciate that you will climb on your roof to get the shot you want. The pink rose is not the only climber in the family apparently. (or maybe that is out a window but I like the story I made up that you’d climb on the roof to take a photo to share with us better…) Your roses are lovely, thanks for sharing them with us. Going to VOTE now!

  18. Bong Mom says:

Laughing at that quote. Your roses are indeed lovely. BTW do you have this awful creature called Japanese beetles bothering your roses around June-July ? If so what do you do ?

    • jai bee says:

we get thrips that prevent them from blooming. use a systemic insecticide (the one that lasts for 24-months). it will keep away beetles too. just remember, once you use it, your roses are not organic and should not be used for edible purposes.

Lovely lovely Roses!Loved the dialogue in the first shot between the Rose and the rocks..! :)

  20. Dinesh says:

The first pic of the rose reminds me of the song “November Rain” from Guns N Roses, in which a Rose falls on the coffin in the end. I like that first photo!

  21. Cham says:

I like the last quote! The first pict is awesome :)

  22. shoba says:

I like roses just because they are low maintenance and we have a yellow, red and another one with unique mixture of pink & yellow. From this year, somehow, a new red one cropped up and just grew quite tall …Now you know why I like roses..:-) And, we have snails in abundance on which Suresh manages to perform cold blooded murders, to keep them away from the roses. :-)
Your roses are lovely and look healthy which is no wonder as you maintain them so well.
