For the past week, we’ve had crazy weather, alternating between the heater and the a/c. A few days ago, we had a low of 31F, killing the cucumber plants. The day before yesterday, we had a high of 96F and today’s forecast says 70F. The irises don’t seem to mind, though.

same here, the fickle weather almost killed all my herb plants, again. Brought them in and watered them with lukewarm water :-P The flowers look gorgeous.

Irises are one of my favorites. i have never seen this combination of colors tho! For a minute i thought that the 96 degrees kinda burned them! Then i saw the purple streaks in the yellow! How pretty.

I’ve always appreciated how sturdy irises are in contrast to their ethereal blooms. Also how easy they are to divide and share. Passalong plants are such a pleasure.

My f-in-law had a soft spot for irises, as did my mother. They are both dead now, but we have irises from both their gardens in ours. We’ve moved them around with us, and when the time comes they have gardens of their own, will joyfully divide and share them again with our grown children.

Thanks for the glimpse of your beauties – striking cultivar!

The weather here in Ontario is like that too. One day it is biting cold and the next day it’s sweltering hot. We moved here last month. I see that I have missed a lot of your posts, will be back.

Truly GORGEOUS iris! Look at how they open from pistachio green buds. Love the stippling, striations, speckles & hues…WOW! Beautiful garden setting, too.
