Quite a few terracotta items in the pix – didn’t know they were popular in the US. Thought only the ethnically-inclined here in India used them. :-)

  20. Happy Cook says:

  21. Soma says:

  22. UjjU says:

Wow! So beautiful. The video is great & so funny! Hee hee, the monkey is too good in irritating the tiger cubs. LOL!

  23. Deb says:

In reply to Sra – terracotta is huge here in the US. Some is domestically produced, a lot comes from Mexico. The priciest pots (and most ornate typically) imported from Italy. In the past 2-3 years there has been a steady influx of Chinese and Vietnamese fired ceramic planters. They are gorgeous but expensive. Then there are the concrete planters/birdbaths/benches. Those are domestic products (too heavy to ship I guess). Do you see those elsewhere or is that a US phenom?

I’m unclear – is flowerfest an event or a place to buy plants or both?

My pansies are about done for. I have a soft spot for pansies – one of the few annuals I use for winter color on the back porch.

What perennial blooms do you plant Bee ? Something that will flower say from May to Fall.
But the monkey makes you happy, you have a nice pet, don’t complain now

roses, daylilies of various types, asiatic lilies (and other perennial bulbs), irises, lavender, david’s phlox, russian sage, salvia, clematis, weigela.

mostly flowers that require little water and attract lots of bees and butterflies. we’re in zone 5 in the high-plains desert, so we don’t have much of a choice here. it gets over 100 F in summer and below freezing in winter, plus it’s very very dry.
