Melons and Mats

Honeydew Melon
This pic was taken with our Canon 300D and a 100 mm macro lens. It was taken in RAW mode and converted to jpg. We’ve used that camera for six years and love it, but at 6.3 megapixels the resolution is not quite enough. It served us well on this blog for two years and 527 posts.
The sushi mat you see above is small – the size of a handkerchief – and each slat is as wide as a toothpick. Here’s a shot with our new camera that arrived a couple of days ago. The only photoshopping was to reduce the highlights a tad. No sharpening or other alterations.

Camera: Canon 5D Mark II taken in jpg format.
With 21 megapixels, making large prints is no longer a problem. Jai used the lens reversal technique with a 90mm tilt shift and a 50mm f/1.4.
Feb. 1 is our blog’s second anniversary. We have made a lot of friends over the past two years through our comments form and by e-mail. You have been incredibly kind and generous with your support, feedback and encouragement. Thank you and have a great weekend.
