David: [takes out pomegranate] You can’t bring this in.
Edward Saroyan: [endearingly] Please.
David: No fruit or vegetables, that includes pomegranates. it’s on your form.
Edward Saroyan: I like to eat the seed of this fruit. One each day. For luck.
David: I’m sorry, that’s not allowed.
[Mr Saroyan takes out his penknife and cuts the fruit open]
David: What are you doing?
Edward Saroyan: This way, I don’t need to bring it in. I eat it here, at the gate of your country. Look …
[takes a bite and nods agreeingly]
Edward Saroyan: So, I bring luck in my stomach. Will you try it?

In Telugu novels, heroines used to be described as having teeth as beautiful as a row of pomegranate seeds – your macro reminded me of that!

I have always been fascinated by pomegranates – it is a very popular motif in textiles and needlework since the medieval period, symbolizing righteousness and fertility.
I don’t think I can adequately express in words the simple, soul-deep satisfaction I experience when I look at the middle picture; it touches something deep inside.

Love this fruit. It’s been ages since I’ve eaten one of these.
This is probably my favorite fruit. My aunt in Trichy used to always buy this for me when she visited us. It’s such a pretty colour too. I got some of these beauties last weekend during grocery shopping and it was so sweet.
Lovely captures! I especially love the 2nd photo… But a bit more sharpness there will catch the eyes better. This is just my opinion, hope you guys don’t mind I share it.

Look around you Mansib, you’ll find pomegranate trees all around CA (if you have read any Steinbeck you’ll see references in several stories set in Salinas county). In this season, CA farmers market carry them too, for waaaay less than $5 per fruit.
