CLICK: the photo event
September 27, 2007 | 116 Comments
A monthly event dedicated to food photography.
CLICK is a theme-based contest. You do not need a blog to participate. Each month, entries will be invited based on a culinary ingredient or concept. Find the current theme HERE and the entries through the “CLICK entries” button on the right sidebar.

While compiling the list of food events in the blogosphere, we realised that there’s not a single event dedicated to food photography with a theme. Every theme-based food blog event seemed to require a recipe. Non-theme based food photography events seemed to require a post on a blog. The handful of theme-based food photography events that do exist seem to be confined to groups like Flickr.
Hence, the decision to start our own. We want this to be a forum for those who enjoy photography or would like to get to know it better, and seek to expand their horizons. A theme makes it much more fun and challenging.
This event does not require a recipe or a blog. All you need is a picture. Non-bloggers are encouraged to strut their stuff.
The focus will be on items used or encountered daily in our surroundings.
A working camera (or cameraphone) and computer.
A perspective that can tease the marvellous out of the mundane. A sense of humour is an advantage.
We’re not professionals or experts, nor are many of the judges we plan to invite. This is intended to be a forum for amateurs to interact with and learn from each other.
With this concept in mind, we sent out e-mails to two veteran bloggers asking for their feedback.
Jaden of Steamy Kitchen and Meeta of What’s for Lunch Honey? are not just supremely talented photographers. They are special people. They got totally on board, and have been involved in planning and conceptualising various aspects of this event at every stage.
Jaden and Meeta had a great deal of input in choosing the name for this event, and in designing the logos. We are deeply grateful to them.

** A new theme will be announced around the first of each month.
** Unless otherwise specified, entries will be due at midnight Eastern Standard Time on the 30th of the month (28th for February).
** A panel of judges will score the entries. Winners will be announced in four categories:

(The Best Capture – Three winners)

(The Most Original)

(The Most Drool-worthy)

One of us (Bee or Jai) picks our ten favourite entries. Readers vote for their favourites among them. The winner is the entry with the most votes that has not won in any other category.
Results in all categories will be announced on or before the 10th of the month.
Winners in all the categories get badges to display on their sites. The first place winner of CLICK Spectra will be invited to judge in the next event.
RULES AND ENTRY FORM
One picture per person/blog.
If you are a blogger, your picture must be part of a post that links to the CLICK event.
Do you have a picture already posted on your site?: We will accept already posted pictures if you add the link to the CLICK event announcement to your post.
Please make sure the picture is 550 pixels wide (height does not matter).
Please use the ENTRY FORM to send it in. (You can find it on the CLICK page)
The last date for entries is usually the 30th of each month, midnight, Eastern Standard Time (28th for February). This date may vary, so please check the individual event announcement.
PLEASE NOTE:
If you send us an entry with more than one picture, or multiple entries, we will use the first one.
Once a picture has been posted in the image gallery, it cannot be changed or swapped out.
If your picture is at Flickr or some other site and not on your blog, it will feature as a non-blogger entry.
Along with the link to the event announcement, please feel free to use one of these logos.

How to resize an image
** Through Photoshop
** There are sites online that will do it for you, such as shrinkpictures.com
Choose ‘Custom‘ size and enter 550.
** If you have Windows, you probably have a program called Microsoft Paint.
Resizing an image using MS Paint
** Or get GIMP. it’s a free software that works like Photoshop. It’s useful for a lot of image editing purposes.
** You can also resize images using Picasa web albums.

(By taking part in this event, participants accept that the pictures submitted to Jugalbandi.info have been taken by them, and do not infringe upon the proprietary rights, including but not limited to the copyright, of any third party. If challenged, the responsibility to prove the ownership of the picture, as well as all attendant liabilities rest with the participant.
Pictures that have pornographic content or are not family friendly will not be accepted.)

[...] CLICK is a new food photography event, started by Bee & Jai of Jugalbandi. It’s theme based, inviting entries every month based on a culinary ingredient or concept. October 2007 is the first month and I am just about making the deadline of October 20! As part of my goal of focusing a bit more on the blog for this, my 2nd year of blogging, I decided I would try to enter such blogosphere events. Even though I am only starting, it’s an incredible way to discover truly phenomenal food blogs, writers and photographers. So, I venture out deeper into the blogosea (some part of my mind thinks the blog wordsare bit overdone, but…) with an entry into CLICK for October 2007. [...]
