Sweet Peas

“We lived very simply – but with all the essentials of life well understood and provided for – hot baths, cold champagne, new peas and old brandy.” ~ Winston Churchill

“It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn’t feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.” ~ Neil Armstrong

I enjoyed the photos here. They are awesome. We have a field near where we live – they were filled with peas. Soeren and I loved riding down with our bikes and simply spend a few minutes picking them and munching on them. Unfortunately when we came back from our vacation we were very disappointed to see that they had all wilted and had not been harvested in time. Shame!!

Absolutely gorgeous pictures. Are peas hardwork? Do you need to build them a support?

Very easy to grow either from seed or from a sapling (from the nursery). The green arrow we got as saplings and the other two were from seed. It’s a creeper, so doesn’t really require support if you let it spread on the ground and you have plenty of space. We put in some bamboo stakes to prevent them from spreading on to other veggies.
