Peashoots. REACHING OUT

Pine. REACHING UP

Of all the varieites of roses we have planted, these two are our favourites. Both
have a bewitching fragrance. These pics, taken last year, are our contribution for the ‘R’ flower at Flower Fest.

    A rose is a rose is a rose, truly.

    What a profound statement, Anita! :evil:

    Those roses are truly bee-yoo-ti-phool.

    That pine though…the less said the better.

    I see you are photobucketing now. If possible, change the link to point to your image i.e. http://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb11/jugapad5/pine.jpg instead of to photobucket.com. Check their TOS to make sure this is allowed.

    Those peas are very cute! They remind me of the beans that Medha planted – one plant each of 4 different types of beans. She potted them at some fair in Boulder. We don’t know which is which but they are growing like crazy. All still in pots. I’m hoping to make some headway with clearing one of the flower beds and converting it into a veggie patch this weekend. My okra on the other hand looks rather sad. I don’t know if it will make it.

    thanks, manisha. i’ve set it up so that if you click, it doesn’t go anywhere. – b.

    Roses are beautiful. On a different note…good luck with the marathon, or am I too late?
    I discovered your blog during the last stages of a difficult pregnancy — just about the time you started it — and your realistic yet positive/enthusiastic take on a lot of things was a refreshing change.

    i slipped and fell at work couple of weeks back and badly bruised my right palm and tore my right AC ligament (shoulder). I am skipping the one next week but have signed up for one in October. will update my site accordingly. thanks for your good wishes. will definitely need it. hope all is well your end. – Jai

    Those are some pretty roses, Bee n’ Jai. and that pine and peashoots growing up, reflectes the hope and postivity, reflect life! Gorgeous pics :) . Do i ever tire of saying that, but like a rose is a rose is a rose, a truth, is a truth, is a truth :-D

    Hey Jai, ouch, that must be painful, but am sure you’ll recover well from that ligament tear!

    Beautiful Roses Bee !!!

  9. Manisha says:

    That sounds mighty painful, Jai! And you’re doing all this gardening? Kudos to you! You are one heck of an eager beaver!

    the plants are his babies. he has to talk to them every day. – b.

  10. Manisha says:

    He’s sending you subliminal messages, Bee.

    Did you folks ever post a recipe for backyard compost?

    recipe: about 40 % dry stuff, 60 % wet, put it preferably in a dark box with holes, water it every few days and turn it around after throwing a couple handfuls soil in. we don’t have any recipe. even easier, just throw your wet waste directly in the garden patch. – b.

    Gorgeous plants, Bee and Jai!
    Can I bother you with a technical question? How do you place a picture in your post so that when you click, it does not go anywhere? Thanks so much!

    I always feel a little green (with envy) :) whenever I visit and see you all exhibiting all your gardening feats.

  15. Manisha says:

    Nupur and Bee, the alt attribute is for the image (img) tag and it is to place alternate text for your image. In IE, this is what pops up as the ‘tool tip’ when you hover over an image.

    If you don’t want the image to be clickable, remove the a tag that is wrapped around the image.
    <a href=”http://whatever.theurl.com/wherever/filename.ext”>
    <img src=”yourimage.jpg” alt=”description of image”>
    </a>

    If WP does not strip my text above then you should see an a (anchor) tag wrapped around an img (image) tag. The a tag should be in bold. That’s what you want to delete if you don’t want the image to be clickable.

    Do not remove the alt attribute. It helps those who use screen readers, esp vision impaired readers, understand what the image was about. Depending on which HTML version you are using, you will or will not need the slash at just before the end of the img tag.

    Thanks Manisha – b

  16. Nupur says:

    Thanks so much, Manisha! It works :) Only problem for me is, Flickr terms insist that I post a link back to them (sigh).
    Bee and Jai, I totally apologize for hijacking form to say this…but just wanted to thank Manisha. Thanks :)
