The Long Run
February 14, 2007 | 1 Comment
One of our favorite songs is The Long Run by Eagles. The lyrics and melody of the song are truly timeless. Deep philosophical pontification has treated us to a variety of cliches about how in the long run the journey is more important than the destination. Singular events are purportedly speed bumps and we are supposed to (in the long run) focus on the road. However, much of what we do is shaped and defined by those same events, right? One such event has prompted J to sign up with Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training to run a marathon this spring.
That’s right. A full marathon. J has completed a marathon before but that is ancient history. So he has been reading a lot about long runs lately. [See, we keep coming back to it
]. The Long run is the most important element in training for a marathon and is well documented here. Another great resource for runners is Hal Higdon’s site. J’s training schedule is adapted from Hal’s site and can be found here. Please visit often to check on his progress. Apart from J’s fundraising goals, he would like to finish in under 4 hours.
